New Territories Region of the department were for General Duties

Teams to control hawkers; that it was impractical to seek more posts yet, because of the need to train recruits and provide super- visory staff; that the eventual deployment of extra teams depended largely on the location of new hawker bazaars and markets; and that on-street hawking would not be permitted in New Towns, as adequate sites for hawker bazaars and markets had been reserved.
Amendments and Additions

We recommended acceptance of the amendments and additions to the draft Estimates at Enclosure 1 and noted the amendments and
additions to the Memorandum Notes at Enclosure 2. We further noted that these amendments and additions did not involve any changes in the financial provision for 1977-73.
