INTERPRETATION
The Spey engine and Trident contracts now form
the major part of UK trade (% of total trade has risen from
39% in 1975 to 60.3% this year). Exports to China of iron and steel and textiles and fabrics have shown a significant
decline this year.
The Trident contract was signed in August/ September 1971, total value £120 million (35 aircraft)
and 5 aircraft are still to be delivered.
