"UNEQUAL" TREATIES

I enclose copies of the Treaty of Nanking (1842) and the Convention of Peking (1860) which you asked for in your letter of 26 September. No trouble.

2. You might like to know that I am being posted (again!), this time to Dar-es-Salaam. I am very pleased, for obvious reasons, though for obvious reasons too I have mixed feelings. My likely departure date from the department is early December.
