HONG KONG: THE GOVERNOR'S NEXT VISIT
1.
I attach the correspondence you had with the Governor earlier this year about the timing of his next visit.
As you will see the Governor said that he did not intend to visit the UK "until November" when he is hoping to take about two months off for leave and a rather longer stay in London than on past visits.
2. I am pretty sure that I have seen subsequently that the Governor is thinking of arriving here in late October but we cannot trace the reference.
3. I do not suppose that the Governor would want to leave Hong Kong until the end of the debate on his address at the opening of the next session of the Legislative Council. His arriving here in late October would still be consistent with that. If the pattern of the Governor's last two winter visits is followed he would spend a month or so in Scotland before coming into the Office for discussions in the first half of December. He would also, on past form, return to Hong Kong in time for Christmas.
