Sir Murry MacLehose attended a TV Interview

to answer Questions about a Variety of Subjects

During a TV interview Sir Murry MacLehose answered a

number of questions about various subjects. They included possible changes in standard rates of profit and salary taxes, the operation of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Hong Kong's responsibility in shouldering expenses by British army personnel and other related arrangements reached with the British Government and the gambling policy. On the question of the Governor's retirement next year, Sir Murray MacLehose said he would retire next year because under the current policy in U.K. Diplomatic Service, all officers must retire at the age of 60 and he would probably be of no exception.
