Just 5 years ago on 19th of November, 1971, that was an important

occasion to people in Hong Kong, for on that day, Sir MacLehose was sent by

your office to be our governor.

In this letter "we want to express our appreciation of your wise

appointment. It has been a happy perior of association with the Governor whereas we were able to push through the various crisis and his Excellency Sir MacLehose's presence here is a source of genuine pride to us.

The association as well as the whole population here petition to

you, Mr. Prime Minister, to extend our Governor's appointment.
