Mr ANN Tae-kai

Mr T K Ann was born in 1912 in Shanghai, where he was educated at St Francis Xavier College. He is Chairman, Managħg Direcpr or Director of a large number of companies in Hong Kong, particularly in the textiles industry but also in electronics, property, shipping and transport. He has been active over a wide range of community affairs and has a long record of public service, including past or present membership of the Cotton Advisory Board, the Advisory Committee on Hong Kong Cotton Textile Exports to Britain, Industrial Training Advisory Committee, Trade and Industry Advisory Board, and the University and Polytechnic Grants Committee. He was a Member of the Legsilative Council from 1970 to 1974 and became a Member of the Executive Council in 1974. He is also currently Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, which was established by statute in 1966 and is a quasi-Governmental organisation responsible for promoting and developing Hong Kong's overseas trade and for making recommendations to the Government which it considers would achieve an increase in Hong Kong's trade. The Council has officeŃ in a dozen or more principal dties, including London.

Mr Ann is a Buddhist. His interests include photography, and learning languages.

He is married and has three children.
