HONG KONG: MR T K ANN'S CALL ON LORD GORONWY-ROBERTS

1. Lord Goronwy-Roberts has agreed to see Mr T K Ann,

Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and an Unofficial Member of the Executive Council, at 4.00 pm on

7 October.

2. Mr Ann is on a two-day visit to London, during which the London office of the Eng Kong Trade Development Council is hosting a dinner party on Thursday 7 October.

3. I submit a personality note on Mr T K Ann and background Wes. and, where appropriate, a Line to Take on:-

(1) Hong Kong Economy;

(ii) Hong Kong/UK Trade (prepared by the DOT);

(iii) Hong Kong and the EEC Generalised Scheme of

Preference;

(iv) Imports of Woven Shirts from Hong Kong to the UK; and

(v) Extension of the Governor's Term of Office;

Mr Duffy will be available to take a record of the meeting, if

required.
