UNITED KINGDOM FINANCIAL AID FOR VIETNAMESE REFUGEES IN HONG KONG

1. Please refer to Mrs Ford's letter DIS 182/201/03 of 30 June 1975, Mrs Johnson's letter HKK 18/25 of 5 August 1975 and your tel no 806 of 20 August 1975.

2. The Accounts Department of the Ministry of Overseas Development have now asked us to obtain the following statements on the £70,000 paid into the Hong Konr Government's account at the Crown Agents as a contribution to the support of the Vietnamese refugees:-

written acknowledgement of the receipt of the money; a short report of the Hong Kong Government's activities in helping, the Vietnamese;

a financial statement certified by independent auditors in which HMG's contribution can be readily identified and from which it will be clear that the £70,000 has been fully applied to the purposes intended.

I would be most grateful if you would arrange for these statements to be forwarded to this department in due course.
