Further to my letter ref. (136) in

FIN 41/2321/75 dated 18th February 1976, I enclose a report covering the period 1st August to 30th November 1975 on the Hong Kong Government's activities in assisting displaced persons from Vietnam. Appendices I and II to this report show details of expenditure incurred in maintaining the refugees, daily totals of the refugees in Hong Kong, and the number of refugees resettled overseas during this period. Appendix III is a summary of estimated expenditure on refugees for the period 5th May 1975 to 31st March 1976.

As at today's date only 80 Vietnamese refugees remain in Hong Kong. Of these it is hoped that the greater part will be resettled overseas; a small group is being processed for resettlement in Hong Kong while yet another group still entertains hopes of being able to return to Vietnam at some future date.
