HONG KONG BOUNDARIES

2.

Thank you for your letter and enclosures of 3 June.

Everyone in Hong Kong is agreed that it would be unwise to try and change the format used up to now for depicting Hong Kong's boundaries on DMS maps. I understand that HQBF consider that the present format is perfectly satisfactory for operational purposes and do not believe that the changes suggested by Brading would be of any practical help to soldiers on the ground. We therefore hope that you can persuade the DMS to make an exception of Hong Kong and leave the present format exactly as it is.

3.

I am not copying this letter to the Embassy in Peking, but would have no objection if you wish to do so.

Your sincerely,

Charles Fran- Frommis
