Please refer to my letter of 4 May 1976 in answer to yours reference D/Svy 3/1/60 of 19 March.
I have now consulted Hong Kong on the political implications of your proposed changes in the depiction of international boundaries on your maps of Hong Kong. Everyone in Hong Kong is agreed that it would be unwise to try and change the format which has been in use up until now. I am told that HQBF consider that the present format is perfectly satisfactory for operational purposes and that the changes you have proposed would not be of practical help to soldiers on the ground.
In the light of this I hope we can agree to continue with your present depiction of the boundaries in Hong Kong with whatever boundary disclaimer note is finally agreed.
