In two consecutive editorials, the Communist WEN WEI PO (October 10 & 11) urged the Government to control "Chiang" activities which it described as "intolerable".

"The activities of the Chiang elements have already aroused great anger among the local Chinese and the people are also extremely dissatisfied with the Government for not adopting effective and proper measures against the flying of the Nationalist flags in public places," the paper said.

WEN WEI wondered whether the Government was adopting a "one-China" or a "two-China" policy by tolerating these Chiang clique activities.

"Does the Government value the friendly relations between China and Britain

or does it intend to destroy them?" the paper asked.

"It's high time the Government made a decision on its policy towards the Chiang elements," WEN WEI urged.
