Every year at about this time both the communists and the KMT begain organizing preparatory committees for the celebrations on 1 and 10 October respectively.

I was intrigued by the attached item which appeared in the English version of the Ta Kung Pao on 26 August. The item itself is by no means sensational but I think this is the first time that the communists have given publicity to the propaganda themes for the National Day celebration and to identify the subjects for their study meetings. any rate the 'revolutionary united front of patriotism and anti-hegemonism' shows that there has been no change in the direction given by the local Hong Kong party leadership over the past eighteen months or so.
