2030. Leave Earning Rates
(a) A local officer serving in an overseas office will earn
vacation leave at the same rate as overseas officers on the new leave terms, that is :
(i)
officers under the age of 40 (unless they have ten years' service and are aged 35 or over)

(b) An overseas officer serving in an overseas office will earn vacation leave in accordance with his leave terms as if serving in Hong Kong, except where such officer is posted to an office in his country of origin as declared for leave and passage purposes. In such case he will have his vacation leave earning rate reduced by one-third during the period of service in that country;
(c) An overseas officer posted to an overseas office may be
permitted at the discretion of the Hong Kong Commissioner in London in the case of London Office, or the Head of the officer's Department in other cases, to take vacation leave of not more than 2/3 weeks at a time. The forfeiture provisions of E.R. 1182(1) will not apply in such cases;
(d) A local officer posted to an overseas office may accumulate
vacation leave beyond the normal limits prescribed in $.R. 1160, at the discretion of the Hong Kong Commissioner in London in the case of the London Office, or the Head of the officer's Department in other cases. Unless otherwise authorised, the officer must take the balance of leave accumulated before he resumes duty in Hong Kong;
(e) On his return to Hong Kong a local officer will forfeit any
untaken casual leave earned during his tour of service overseas, with the exception of 2 days which may be taken immediately on arrival in Hong Kong.
