2027. Hotel Accommodation and Subsistence Allowance in Hong Kong

(a) A local officer posted to an overseas office may, subject to

the approval of the Secretary for the Civil Service, be provided with hotel accommodation for himself (and his family) for a period not exceeding 7 days before departure from Hong Kong. On his return, the officer may be provided with hotel accommodation and hotel subsistence allowance under E.R. 846 for himself and his family for a period not exceeding one month. Residence in an hotel is subject to the provisions of E.R. 841(1) and (2), 842, 845 and 847. Rent will be payable at the rates laid down in E.R. 872(1). The Secretary for the Civil Service may in his discretion authorise an extension of these periods;

(b) The provision of hotel accommodation in Hong Kong for an overseas officer posted to or returning from an overseas office will be subject to the rules applicable to officers going on or returning from vacation leave;

(c) On his return to Hong Kong an officer eligible for non-depart- .

mental quarters will be granted "disturbance" points under E.R. 815(1)(i).

2028. Passages and Tours

2029.

(a) An officer posted to an overseas office will be provided with

air passages at appropriate rates for himself, his wife and dependent children to and from his place of posting. Dependent children are normally defined as sons below the age of 19 and unmarried dependent daughters below the age of 21;

(b) Officers will normally be posted overseas for a period of not less than two and a half years. If a local officer is posted to an overseas office for a further tour of duty of not less than two and a half years, he will be provided with return air passages to Hong Kong, appropriate to his rank, for himself, his wife and his dependent children except that when a son reaches the age of 19 or a daughter the age of 21 during the period of overseas service, only single passages to Hong Kong will be provided.

Subsistence Allowance for Duty Visits to Hong Kong

An officer posted overseas and required to pay duty visists to Hong Kong may claim subsistence allowance at the "South East Asia" rate under E.R. 713(2).
