PROPOSED OSTING OF A HONG KONG POLICE SUPERINTENDENT TO INTERPOL, PARIS

1.

I should be glad to know whether Mr Macoun or Western European Department see any objection in principle to the proposal outlined in paragraph 2 of Hong Kong telegram No 239.

2. I should be grateful, then, for the views of Personnel Operations Department on paragraph 3, and to know whether Personnel Services Department think the rent and rate allowances suggested in paragraph 4 would be appropriate.

3. I think the advice requested in paragraph 5 can best be supplied by Paris, but I suggest we should not approach them until the Overseas Police Adviser, WED and POD have all had an opportunity to comment on the proposal as a whole.

4. All addressees will note that Hong Kong, who apologise for the short notice, have asked for an early reply.
