as far as we are concerned, at present links seem to us to be strongly enough forged and to be providing the sort of co-opera- tion that we want; we also have found much benefit and anticipate more from recent Interpol initiatives both in Europe and SE Asia. For our part we see no particular reason for having a further meet- ing in the series this year, and would be content to review the position when we meet in Geneva at the Commission early next year. Nonetheless, we recognise that this is a common and co-operative activity and we are content to be guided by the views of yourselves and of Hong Kong, since both of you are more directly affected by and likely to get more obvious and immediate benefit from co-opera- tion in this field than we are.
It is our turn to host a meeting and we would certainly be glad to do this in London in the summer, if either you or Norman Rolph, or both, press strongly for a further meeting. Perhaps you would both consider this question and let me know in due course what your decision is. If we decide to have a meeting this year, I shall set in hand arrangements for it.
I am sending a copy of this letter to Norman Rolph.
Yours sincerely
