HONG KONG DEATH PENALTY

501

1. The issue of whether or not the death penalty should be carried out in Hong Kong is once again receiving much attention in Hong Kong. When the Governor visits London in the early part of December he will be discussing the subject with Ministers. In preparation for this, Lord Goronwy-Roberts has asked for information on the practice with regard to capital punishment in the People's Republic of China.

2.

I should be grateful for any information you might have on this by 21 November.
