1. At the weekly Dependent Territories meeting under Mr Larmour's chairmanship this afternoon, in connection with the Elvin murder case Mr Male enquired about the position on the death penalty in Gibraltar. I said that there was no death penalty.

2. On checking I find that although the death penalty for murder was abolished in 1967, it has been retained for treason and piracy with violence.
