The Prisoner claimed to have no connection or association with any triad society. He said he used to associate with former school-mates and his peers living in the vicinity of Kam Tin. He sometimes played football with them at the playground near the deceased's home. He sometimes brought his school-mates home for a ball-game.

TSUI Man, M/43 (The Prisoner's father)

The father revealed that the Prisoner though not a very steady person before joining the Royal Hong Kong Police, yet he was not wicked and lazy. When he stayed at home he used to help his father taking care of the farm such as washing pigsty and feeding the chickens. The father was of the opinion that he was obedient, also a helping hand to the family. He also showed much concern to the well-being of his natural mother and sisters in Canton. The father believed that the Prisoner might have some disputes with the deceased that led to the gang fight. However, as far as his conduct at home is concerned it was considered satisfactory, added the father.

TSE Yuen-kiu, F/39 (The Prisoner's step-mother)

The step-mother stated that the Prisoner's relationship with her and her own daughters had been good and harmonious. He treated her like his own mother without any ill-feeling among them. He sometimes gave some money to the younger step-sisters for buying titbit and would often play together. In fact she was his neighbour before she married his father. So she and her daughters could get along well with the Prisoner. She described him as an obedient boy.

3. LUI Sau-lan F/65 (The Prisoner's grandmother)

The grandmother said she had been taking care of the Prisoner since childhood. She brought him to Hong Kong from Canton. She said the Prisoner was not bad in character nor a cruel person though he was fond of playing with boys of his age.

He was said to be filial and attached to her. surprised at the Prisoner's offence.
