PARLIAMENTARY QUESTIONS: MR JAMES JOHNSON MP

1.

Mr James Johnson (Labour, Kingston upon Hull West) has

put down five questions for written answer on 6 August concerning the Royal Hong Kong Police Force.

2. Mr Johnson takes a close and often critical interest in

Hong Kong affairs, in particular on police and corruption matters. 59 60 Earlier this year he tabled two Questions about the Hong Kong Flag A Police and the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

3. We have consulted Hong Kong who have provided information to enable us to reply to the Questions (Hong Kong telegram No. 750). The Police Force Ordinance 1964 is attached from which it is obvious that Mr Johnson's reference to Regulation 31A is a mistake for Section 36(1).

4.

I submit draft replies.

The DOPA concurs.
