RECENT PROSECUTIONS AGAINST ICAC OFFICERS

7. (i) In December 1974

was convicted and fined

10,000 Hong Kong dollars for accepting a private loan from a police officer without the permission of the Governor. His service with the Commission has been terminated. Although the acceptance of the loan without permission was an offence under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, the Vourt accepted that no corrupt intent was involved.

EX-CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT GODBER

8. Mr Godber was sentenced to four years' imprisonment in February this year after being found guilty of bribery and conspiracy. His appeal to the Supreme Court was dismissed and his subsequent petition for special leave to appeal to the Privy Council was refused on 17 July.
