MP'S LETTER: CORRUPTION
1. Please refer to Andrew Stuart's letter HKK14/1 of 6 February about the correspondence from Mrs Elsie Elliott forwarded to the Secretary of State by Mr James Johnson MP.
2. Mr James Johnson raised this same matter in the House of Commons on 19 February, when he asked whether Mr Hattersley was "aware of the many charges laid at the door of the Attorney General's Office by Councillor Mrs Elsie Elliott,
..? Will my right honourable Friend say how many prosecutions laid before it have been dropped by the Attorney General's Office, on instructions of that Office?" In reply Mr Hattersley took note of what Mr Johnson said and added that he would "try to answer his detailed question." I shall be grateful therefore if, when preparing your reply to Andrew Stuart's letter, you would also provide the information asked for by Mr Johnson in the House on 19 February.
