AN OUTLINE PLAN AND TIMETABLE FOR RE-LOCATING BY 31 MARCH 1979 IN IMS TAWAR AND ELSEWHERS THE FUTURE HEADQUARTERS BRITISH FORCES HONG KONG AND ALL THOSE SUPPORTING BLEMENTS WHICH ARE NOW STATIONED IN VICTORIA BARRACKS

1. The sub-committee concluded that it would be feasible to re-locate the HQ British Forces Hong Kong and essential supporting elements now in Victoria Parr- acks in or close to MS TAMAR and other elements now in Victoria Barracks else- where.

2. The proposed timetable for completion of the entire move by 31 March 1979 is physically possible provided that quite exceptional efforts are made by all con- cerned and, in particular, that:

A decision to go ahead with the project is made by 1 January 1976.

Adequate authority is delegated by H Government Departments to Head- quarters British Forces/PSA Hong Kong to allow the detailed brief for the internal fitting out of the Headquarters building to be completed, approved and in the hands of the Hong Kong Principal Government Architect by September 1976.

PWD Hong Kong are able to construct and fit out the necessary buildings so that they can be occupied no later than 31 March 1979.

The cost will be of the order of HK120 at 1975 prices.

The sub-committee recommends that Hong Kong Government and HQ Pritish Forces, in consultation with FSA Hong Kong, should jointly propose a streamlined procedure for approval of this project at each stage, for consideration by HM Government De- partments.
