We have done our best to plead your cause; but I am
afraid that if Hong Kong is not prepared to meet the costs of
continued RAF operation, the MOD regard themselves as having no option but to withdraw the remaining 117 Signals Unit personnel. Since they would need reasonable time to make the necessary withdrawal arrangements, they have asked if you would kindly send us a final decision by 1 August.
