Defence Review Hong Kong. Examination of a possible 35 million pound garrison.

The three Service Commanders have today discussed five options for reducing further defence costs to around 35 million pounds. These options are spelt out below so that, before coming out for the next round of talks, the KOD toan will be able to have accurate costings made and also gather KOD and service department reactions. All options start from the base line of the preferred reduced garrison estinated and costed at 40 million pounds.

2. Option A. Reductions by one UK Battalion and the UK Battery, plus their associated support slice, making an estimated saving of five million pounds PA.

3. Option B. Removal of the Guardship (but the retention of five patrol craft), removal of the UK Battalion and associated support slice. Eetika(3) saving 5.2 million pounds P.A.
