TOCAL CONSIDERATIONS

Hong Kong

13. The future size and composition of the Hong Kong

garrison are being negotiated with the Hong Kong Government.

Meanwhile some reductions are being made but these do not

appear to affect other withdrawal plans.

Brunei

14.

First indications are that the Sultan of Brunei

may insist on his treaty rights and cause the Gurkha battalion's

withdrawal to be postponed until at least December 1976.
