In this way, educational technology will also facili-
tate the integration of full-time, part-time day
and evening studies and reduce the gaps at present
existing between them. The total cost of self learning
materials is likely to be of the order of £150,000.
Books and Periodical Back Sets
The remainder of the Grant will be taken up by book
and serial back orders which are expected to be placed
at a rate of approximately 8,000 volumes per year,
ie £60,000-£80,000 per year. These books and
periodicals are necessary to provide an adequate
basic stock of British materials for the extremely
large Polytechnic student population and to provide
a reservoir of technical information for industry
and commerce.
