I think this suggests a visit during the last week of November of the first week in December.

A further consideration is what the movments of the Secretary of State will be. I do not know whether he will want to see me or not, but it might be prudent for me at least to plan the visit to London at a time when he will not be away.

My programme always seems to get terribly full on these occasions and I should start planning appointments pretty soon.

I would be grateful if you would now telegraph your approval of November 6 as the commencement date of my leave, and your suggestion as to the dates on which I should visit London. In the light of your reply I will telegraph the date of my suggested return to Hong Kong.

It seems rather a long time since I had a proper leave, and because of my daughter's illness (you may have heard she is facing paralysis from the waist down for life) I hope it will not be necessary for me to return to Hong Kong until after the Christmas holidays.
