Party met yesterday and discussed the matter of Hong Kong. They made the following decisions.

The proposed to discuss with the TUC the present position of trade unions in Hong Kong and, if the TUC agree, will subse- quently be making joint approaches to the Secretary of State on this matter.

The Committee intends to write to the

Foreign Office asking why certain ILO conventions have not been ratified.

The Committee intends to ask the Secretary of State to encourage the Governor to

broaden the basis of selection for

Executive and Legislative Council.
