Explanatory Memorandum

Under this Bill any male person who is convicted-

(a)

of any offence under section 4, 5, 6, 7, 35 or

37 of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance; or

(b)

of any offence under section 8 or 36 of the

Dangerous Drugs Ordinance committed whilst in

the custody of the Commissioner of Prisons,

may be sentenced by the Court to be caned in addition to

or in lieu of any other punishment for that offence.
