We should much like the seminar to have the benefit of the experience and comments of national law enforcement officials of other countries who are working within the region to combat international drug trafficking. So far as is known to this Division, the Governments of Australia, Hong Kong and the United States maintain such "narcotics attachés" within the region. It would be inappropriate to invite such officials to attend the training seminar as participants, but observer status would be, I hope, acceptable.
I accordingly wish to inquire whether the Government of the United Kingdom would wish one of its officials engaged in such work to be invited by the United Nations to attend the seminar as an observer, and if so, to give me his name, address and official title.
