1. In his letter of 12 August Jones-Parry mentioned the personi involvement in this case of our legal adviser. For the record I should perhaps explain that the earlier roference we made in our telegram number 192 of 12 July was an error. What happened was that I asked to speak to our legal adviser, Maître Pham hy, when the telephonist put me through, I began to discuss this e The person at the other end responded freely and was most help 1, and explained that he had their files before him and that he was preparing the police case. At this point, I reported his curiou involvement. A week later I 'phoned Maître Pham (uy again, when I referred to our previous conversation, he was nonplus! It transpired that it was not him to whom I had spoken earlier. On cross-questioning the telephonist afterwards, I discoverVİ that on the first occasion she had puthe in touch with Haftre P Kim y, the police prosecutor, whose office is in police host quarters. I had therefore been put through as it were to the prosecution, when I asked to speak to our legal adviser!
2.
As it turned out no harm was done. I have now establi regular contact with Pham Kim uy, who, although the poli now handed over all responsibility to the Saigon Comel, provide me with a certain amount of inside inforre bi adviser, Pham Quy, will therefore be in court with no interests.
