Colonel Nguyen Van Ve,

Director, Con Son Rehabilitation Centre,

Trung Tam Cai Huan Con Son,

Con Son, Republic of Vietnam..

Dear Colonel Nguyen Van Ve:

I write you concerning the imprisonment of 118 South Vietnamese who were deported from Hong Kong to Saigon on June 17, 1974.

It is my understanding that a number of these deport- ees are women and children.. It is also my understand- ing that several European countries were willing to grant asylum to some of the deportees, and that at least one country was willing to pay the fares of a number of the deportees who chose to go to another country. Could not such a disposition still be made of the prisoners in question ?

I would greatly appreciate information as to the charges against these 118 prisoners. We in the United States are deeply concerned about their fate..

Thank you in advance for your response to this urgent request..

Sincerely,

Kay Boyle
