The Commissioner,

Hong Kong Government Office,

6 Grafton Street,

London, W.1.

Dear Sir,

With reference to my application for appointment to the Royal Hong Kong Police as Senior Assistant Commissioner - Director C.I.D., I should be grateful if the following conditions of service could be clarified.

1.

2.

る。

4.

I would like my 3 year secondment to be under the Overseas Service Act.

I would like my Superannuation Pension contributions paid by the Hong Kong Government to the Metropolitan Police. The contributions would be based on my United Kingdom salary as a Metropolitan Police Commander under the terms of the U.K. Police Fensions Act and Police Pensions Regulations.

I would like the terminal gratuity - at present 25% of total Hong Kong salary to be reduced by the sum pay- able to the Metropolitan Police in respect of my pension contributions and I would prefer that the word 'honorarium' be used in place of the word 'gratuity' and that the honorarium be paid on completion of the contract minus deduction of Hong Kong tax at the appropriate rate.

}

I assume that both I and members of my family would receive free medical and dental treatment in Hong Kong.

5.

I assume that at the conclusion of the contract, I would be granted a period of U.K. leave.

6.

I understand that 60% of school fees for my son will be paid by the Hong Kong Government.

I will be available to travel to Hong Kong on any date after 19th August.

faithfully,

(N.S. Howell)
