As regards leave, the arrangements will be described to you in the detailed Conditions of Service from the ODN. However I confirm that you may be granted overseas vaca- tion leave on completion of your tour of service.
As regards school fees for education of children in Hong Kong, the position is as follows:
"Fees for primary schools, with effect from January 1974, are HK/1,330 p.a. and an allowance is payable of IK/798. Fees for secondary schools from January 1974 are 1K/2,530 p.2. and the allowance lil/1,278."
These allowances are normally payable to officers educating their children locally in Government and aided schools. No allowances are payable in respect of private schools unless there are not enough places in the public sector.
I trust that it will be possible for the ODM to finalise your appointment and travelling arrangements so as to enable you to leave as soon after 19th August as possible.
