E.R.
"The Foreign and Commonwealth Office hereby agree to indemnify Metropolitan Police
against all claims made by police, civil staff or third parties and against all
liabilities whether arising under statute or common law in respect of personal
injury (including injury resulting in death), damage to or loss of property
arising in the UK or abroad in connection with the visit of two Metropolitan Police
officers to Hong Kong in March/April 1974. This indemnity is given on the understanding
that in the event of a special pension being payable in respect of personal injury or
death, the sum recoverable from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office would only
cover any amount in excess of the amount of a service pension.'
