Many thanks for your letter of 31 January about assistance for the new Anti-Corruption Commission in Hong Kong.
1.
2.
The Governor of Hong Kong has confirmed that he is very grateful to the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis for agreeing to release Commander Anning for this advisory visit, and welcomes the suggestion that he should be accompanied by another senior Metropolitan Police Officer with specialist investigative experience. I confirm that all travel and accommodation costs will be met by the Government of Hong Kong, and as you suggest I am getting in touch direct with Sir Robert Mark to arrange the details.
3.
I also confirm that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office agree to give the Metropolitan Police the required indemnity covering the two officers for their visit and I have sent this direct to the Commissioner..
4.
I am most grateful to you for your help in this matter. I am sure that the advisory visit by Commander Anning and his colleague will be of great help to the new Independent Commission Against Corruption which starts operations on 14 February.
