SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL FACTORS.

Having been vigorously pursued by the deceased, LIU Chu was determined to avoid arrest for the robbery he had just committed.

The violence of the final assault (8 stab wounds inflicted with a triangular file) indicates a determination to kill in order to escape.

(c) The murder was not premeditated.

a)

There is no indication of mental abnormality. LIU was a drug addict.

RECOMMENDATION.

If His Excellency decides that the death sentence should be commuted, I suggest that a sentence of life imprison- ment should be substituted.
