closed the iron gate at the entrance to the building and one of them went to call the Police. At this stage, neither of

them saw the deceased.

There was evidence from another witness, who resides on the first floor at 137 Fa Yuen Street, that he was at home when he heard, a shout of robbery. He went out and saw.three men (two young and one old) chasing a fourth older man. They disappeared from his sight and went upstairs." He says, however, that he did not know how many went upstairs. The evidence of this, witness is a little confused, but, following some inter- vening events, he saw the two older men fighting nearby. One of them (undoubtedly the deceased) fell down and the other (LIU) walked a few paces away. The deceased got up again and chased after LIU. There was another struggle and the witness said he saw one of the two men (LIU) stabbing the other, who

was by then lying on the ground.

LIU was later arrested in the kitchen of another

flat in the building, in which he had hidden.

MEDICAL EVIDENCE.

LIU, who was medically examined shortly after his arrest, had a number of minor injuries, consistent with his having been in a fight. The deceased's injuries were severe.

He sustained

(a) two stab wounds to the heart;

(b)

a stab wound right through the upper forearm; (c) two stab wounds on the right chest;

(a)

two stab wounds on his left back; and

(e)

one stab wound on his right thigh, which partly severed the femoral artery.

The cause of death was bleeding* following the wounds.
