C. HOME ENVIRONMENT

The Prisoner's family occupies two cubicles and a tiny sitting- room at No. 711, Pak Ling Lau, 7/F, Ngau Tau Kok Road, under the auspices of the Hong Kong Housing Society, paying a monthly rental of $143. They lived there for about 7 years. The flat was rather crowded and simply furnished. But he did not stay with his family for about 6 years since he cohabited with a female, named Yuen Yuk-mui, at Po Fu Building 3/F, Block K, Fu Ming St., To Kwa Wan, Kowloon which was a staff quarter of The his employer, Madam WAN Mui Mui who is also a condemned prisoner. Prisoner used to stay at the said address when he was working for that call-girl racket.

D. EDUCATION

The Prisoner stated he had had only 5 years of schooling, reaching a standard up to P. 5. He ceased schooling at the age of about 14 due to financial difficulty and lack of interest in studies.

E. EMPLOYMENT

The Prisoner came out to work at the age of 14. He had been an apprenticed plumber for about 4 years and later became a skilled worker. Apart from being a plumber he was also engaged in interior decoration works and mechanic work at a Fuji Co., He was working on a contract with Madam WAN Mui Mui decorating a flat at Pak Sha Road before the offence.

F. ASSOCIATES

The Prisoner claimed that he associated with some members of triad society but did not join any of such society. Most of his friends were workers of different trades.

G. PERSONS INTERVIEWED (relevant to Prisoner's conduct and working attitude)

1. LAI Hoi-shan, /56 (Prisoner's father)

The father was of the opinion that the Prisoner was an obedient boy before. Before he cohabited with his common-law wife he used to hand in about $300 to him every month. He was said to be good to his folks at home and was rather steady in work. After he had cohabited with his wife he did not give them any money but only returned home to see them occasionally.

2. YU Koon-fong, F/50, (Prisoner's mother)

The mother revealed that the Prisoner became a spendthrift after he cohabited with his wife. He liked to buy better clothings, good food and tended to indulge in material comfort. For the past two years she did not know where he was working and living.
