HAK Chai. YEUNG then made an effort to find PANG by telephone, but was unsuccessful. HAK Chai then telephoned WAN and shortly afterwards HAK Chai, CHAU and LIU (together with some other people who were in the premises) attacked YEUNG.
He was kicked
and beaten, then given a glass of water and again assaulted. Following the arrival of two more prople, he was attacked a third time. YEUNG was then taken to a flat in Po Ming Mansion in Causeway Bay from which WAN operated her call-girl organi-
sation. Having asked YEUNG where PANG was, WAN told those present

to set upon YEUNG again. These included CHAU, HO, LIU and HAK
Chai.
YEUNG was severely beaten and WAN also joined in the attack on him. The beating lasted for some time and was interrupted as before by the provision of a glass of water for

Subsequently, YEUNG was ordered to speak to CHAN Kwok- Cheung (the deceased) by telephone with a view to luring him to the premises. LAI stood by him holding a knife. The discussion with the deceased was inconclusive, but subsequently the deceased was brought to the premises by HAK Chai and others. YEUNG and the deceased were then taken to a flat in Pak Sha Road occupied by WAN. There the deceased was brutally beaten by a group of people, including all five accused, over a period of an hour or so. The evidence was that WAN was in charge at all times. At one stage, the deceased was held and WAN ordered YEUNG himself to strike the deceased, which he did.
The
deceased died fairly soon after the beating came to an end. His body was subsequently dropped down a hillside below Deep Water Bay Road by CHAU, WAN, LIU and HAK Chai.

YEUNG was the main witness for the Crown and his evidence was substantially corroborated by a prostitute who worked for WAN's organisation. She was present when YEUNG was beaten at the flat in Po Ming Mansion and when the deceased was beaten at the flat in Pak Sha Road. Her evidence implicated all the accused as well as others. This witness was then living
with CHAU.
