The number of rusticated young persons from
urban areas outside PO ON assigned to agricultural work
in FU SHING is very limited, due mainly to the fact that
in the past, the proximity of HONG KONG has provided too
much of a temptation for young assignees to resist.

Primary schools are situated in each brigade
The
and these establishments also provide two year's junior-
middle school education at the end of the primary course.
The Commune's senior-middle school is situated at FUK TIN
((M) FUTIEN) and provides a two year course for junior-
middle school leavers. Staff members include the head-
master and eight teachers.
Medical Facilities
57.
In 1968/69, a medicare scheme was introduced in
all brigades in the Commune. Persons wishing to join the
scheme have to pay an initial fee of R.M.B. 0.60 and a
monthly subscription of R.M.B. 0.15.
Treatment and all
medicines provided are then free of charge, although a
nominal registration fee at the clinic concerned is still
applicable.
