We agreed that we should wait until we have had a reply from the Chinese and until after the elections before submitting substantive replies to the numerous former Members of Parliament who have written on this subject. You considered that no further interim replies were needed for the time being.
2. However, of the Members who wrote (a list is attached for information) there are 3 cases where I think a Private Secretary letter is needed to hold the position until after the elections. Mr John Wilkinson and Mr Russell Johnston have not yet received interim replies and Sir John Hall sent a reminder to Mr Blaker the day before the election was announced. draft letters which you may wish to send.
