Haagerup loft Denmark for a four week sponsored visit to Australia at the end of March this year. Had we known about this in advance it might have been possible to persuade him to make a useful diversion through Hong Kong. If the overseas press unit of I.S.D., which I have proposed, is established it should maintain close and regular links with all Consulates in Hong Kong with a view to getting such advance information in respect of other visitors from Europe and using it in appropriate cases to Hong Kong's advantage. By such means we might be able to build up an effective programme of partially assisted visits without having to bear the full heavy air travel costs between Europe and Hong Kong.

Danish radio and television is state controlled and attempts at joint ventures, with British Embassy assistance, have been in- frequent in comparison with other areas. But there are working tie- ups between the Danish television London correspondent and the BBC which have resulted in some shared productions. They also have correspondents in Brussels, Paris and Bonn. They have a part time correspondent in Tokyo Mr. Suen Nyboe who also writes for the Danish paper "Politiken/Ekstrabladet". He might be worth bringing to

Hong Kong and more information might be obtained about him from the Embassy in Tokyo.

People they alleged ran the risk of being cheated of their money by receiving clothes of poor quality and poor fit or not receiving them at all. Hong Kong merchant was doing nothing illegal and it is difficult to see how these individual initiatives, which can do so much harm to Hong Kong, can be controlled.

I took the opportunity in Denmark to discuss the European picture agency market with a company 'Ifot' of Hellerupvej 76, which has links with similar agencies throughout the E.E.C. Their Hong Kong picture library was sadly limited and out-of-date. They could place single colour shots suitable for the travel agency business or posters and also both black and white and colour pictures of Hong Kong cooking with attached recipes. The H.K.T.A. may feel it worthwhile to supply this agency with stock shots within these categories.
