News items for television are fed to the two stations and although no usage figures are available (it is too time-consuming to chase up each item) a rough guide provided by one of the stations showed that some 30% are used at once and a further 40% are likely to be used in due course. This is encouraging as both stations are commercial and tend to give little away in dealing with anything of a "hard sell" nature.

Radio and Television

18. BBC programmes are used extensively on both media.

We have recently started to receive more radio tapes from COI and it will be interesting to see how effectively we can extend our activities in this direction.

"Trading Post" continues to be much appreciated and a valuable adjunct to both trade promotion and our efforts to improve the British image. Er George Yeatman somehow contrives to produce a consistently lively and interesting programme which is broadcast by Radio Hong Kong at excellent listening times: 6:45 p.m. on Saturday evenings with repeats at 9:15 the following morning. There have

been a number of occasions when we have been very grateful indeed for this radio coverage.

Value of Material

The material and service we receive from the COI is good and we have no comments to offer, except to suggest (a) that the excellent press photographs carry the date of issue or perhaps of the news events, such as football matches, races etc depicted so that we can gauge how up-to-date they
