AIR SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH CHINA
Following discussion with the Governor on
June 11, Sir John Addis was instructed to ask the
Chinese whether they were now ready to sign the
agreement initialled in Peking in June 1973 (see
A B FCO telegrams Nos 302 and 347 to Peking).

Although the Chinese Ambassador told
British Airways on June 10 that following the
signature of the Sino/Japanese Air Services
Agreement there was no longer any problem and
that it was time for us to raise the matter
again (see FCO telegram No 348 to Peking),
Sir John Addis found that the Chinese referred
back to the points raised by them at his meetings
last autumn. The Chinese however undertook to
clarify their position (see Peking telegram No 463).
