Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter of 26 July to Michael Morgan (OXA 53/2/74).

This is simply to confirm that neither the Governor nor I have any objection to Kathleen Draycott's proposal to visit Peking next month. I do not think there will be any problem over Miss Gibson's absence from Hong Kong.

Of course everything depends on how our Embassy in Peking view the proposals. Only they know how many visitors, from which quarters, will be seeking to call on Peking this autumn.
