that since he has not previously visited South East Asia or Hong Kong he should try to organise his own travel in such a way that he either spends some time in South East Asia before the Minister's visit or alternatively does not return to London with him and spends the ten days or so immediately before Christmas in that area. It might be possible for him to arrange his itinerary in such a way that he is in Hong Kong at the same time as Lord Goronwy-Roberts.

4. In these circumstances it looks as though I shall be the anchor man at any rate until after Christmas but I would very much like to get out to the area again perhaps late in January or early in February. I would particularly like to attend the next meeting of the Indo China Heads of Mission due for the end of January and there is also the question of our official talks with the Indians which are due to take place in about mid-February. If I could tie these two events together I would also try to look in briefly on some other posts.

In the light of this forecast about travel I would be grateful for any suggestions or comments which you may have for either Peter or myself. There really is no time to extend Tom Brimelow's tour since he will be travelling out to Tokyo via Moscow and departing from Seoul for Canada.
